Accounting Associate

Location: Cleveland, OH

General Responsibility: Performs various accounting, and analytical tasks for preparation of the monthly financial statements.  Responsible for the creating and processing of monthly journal entries, posting adjusting entries and reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts. 

 Essential Functions:

  • Prepare assigned monthly general journal entries and enter/import to the general ledger
  • Maintain assigned general ledger accounts including the preparation of journal entries, accruals, monthly account analysis and reconciliation.
  • Maintain, and reconcile daily bank activity for ALL bank accounts by gathering and balancing information.  
  • Provide information to RCM, AP and Payroll
  • Coordinate and maintain records, receipts, sales reports, and journal entries for the Resale Shop, IPUs Cafeteria, etc.
  • Coordinate and maintain records, receipts, and journal entries for the monthly Misc Cash Receipts
  • Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related projects and tasks as needed.
  • Complete special assignments/projects as assigned.
  • Assure accuracy of financial records for agency by analyzing balance sheets and income statement accounts.
  • Maintain accounting controls by following policies and procedures and complying with federal state and local financial legal requirements.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
  • Assist in the continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and works cooperatively and collaboratively to provide quality, seamless internal and external customer service.

 Requirements: 

Education/Experience

  • Two (2) years experience in general accounting, general ledger and automated systems (preferably in a non-profit, healthcare environment)
  • Proficient in word processing, database and spreadsheet software packages

 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting time-sensitive deadlines
  • Demonstrated planning, follow-up and organization skills
  • Must demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills
  • Flexible to work both independently and in a team environment
