Volunteer Clinicians Needed for a Variety of Roles

Credentialed volunteer clinicians have always played a vital role supporting our mission. Whether working directly with patients or hand-in-hand with paid clinical staff, their time, talent and heart provide the flexibility and dedication that help define Hospice of the Western Reserve as a nonprofit agency. Never has that support been more important as we work together to maintain the highest quality of care.

Current volunteer nurse opportunities include administering TB skin tests, providing Flu shots in the fall and winter, creating and teaching classes on medically based topics and providing fit testing for N-95 masks.

Volunteer nurses who prefer direct patient care receive additional training to assist with bathing, feeding, providing Comfort Touch, offering cardiopulmonary phone support, serving as end-of-life doulas and more. (An active nursing license is required for some roles.) Contact the Volunteer Office at 216.255.9090 or email volunteering@hospicewr.org.

Volunteer nurses, nursing assistants, medical technicians, phlebotomists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, doctors and other licensed or certified clinicians are also needed to run Rapid COVID-19 staff testing clinics at HWR sites.

Opportunities are available in Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties.

At the weekday clinics, HWR staff members obtain their own specimens. The volunteer clinicians run and read the tests and document the results. Testing takes place at socially distanced HWR sites; masks are worn. Volunteer clinicians may sign up for two- or four-hour blocks of time using SignUp Genius. Current and up-to-date licenses/certifications and viewing of a training video are required. Contact the Volunteer Office at 216.255.9090 or email volunteering@hospicewr.org.

Hospice of the Western Reserve is also hiring for heart! A variety of paid clinical staff positions are  available. To view and apply for paid clinical staff positions, visit hospicewr.org/careers.
