Hospice Teams Present Gift Card Wreath to Leukemia Survivor and Former Coworker


​The 60 plus members of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s Triage, On-Call and Go Where Needed (GWN) teams have dedicated their careers to serving some of our community’s most vulnerable residents. They provide expert care, guidance and emotional support to families when most people are sound asleep. They are the first voice of hospice for those seeking help, they travel across 11 counties to deliver support wherever it is needed most and they provide expert 24/7 guidance to family care givers over the hotline. These are just a few of their many responsibilities.

Local Family Spends Christmas Mornings with Hospice Patients


Santa can’t be everywhere. So sometimes he has some very special people filling in for him. Family members of the Jindra family have taken turns donning a Santa suit and gathering up a dedicated group of “elves” to spread holiday cheer at medical centers in Cleveland every Christmas morning for the past 101 years. They are carrying on a century-old family tradition started by his great-grandfather in 1916.

Hospice of the Western Reserve Accredited by National Institute for Jewish Hospice

​Hospice of the Western Reserve received accreditation from The National Institute for Jewish Hospice on Nov. 30, 2017, at the organization’s annual conference at the Renaissance Hotel, Newark, NJ. The NIJH accreditation signifies that the nonprofit agency meets the requirements established by the institute to address the spiritual, cultural and ethical needs of the Jewish community. According to the NIJH website, Hospice of the Western Reserve is the only hospice in Northeast Ohio and one of only three in Ohio to be accredited in 2017.

Dow Chemical Company Foundation Awards $1,000 Grant to hospice of the Western Reserve


The Dow Chemical Company Foundation has awarded a $1,000 grant to the Ashtabula Office of Hospice of the Western Reserve in support of the hospice concept of care as an important part of the health care delivery system in the local community. The grant is part of The Dow Chemical Company Foundation’s support to communities where employees and retirees live.
