The Gift of Caring

Maria DiCaprio, owner of DiCaprio Salon in Northfield, exemplifies the spirit of giving this season. She has a special heart for Hospice of the Western Reserve’s mission. For the second year, she has used her own funds to purchase, wrap and donate gifts for two of our patients and their entire families, including warm winter clothes and boots, gift cards to help with much-needed household items, toys for the children and more. The donations were coordinated by volunteer service manager Lori Scotese as part of our Moments to Remember program.

“It’s the very least I can do,” Maria said as she dropped off the gifts at our headquarters today. “Many of my clients have had loved ones in hospice care. I wanted to do something to give support to other hospice families.” Delivering the gifts to the families today were Michelle Miller, a social worker with our pediatric hospice team, and Jennifer Miller, a registered nurse with our Western Reserve Navigator palliative care program. Thank you Maria, for being a very special angel and creating memories these  two families will always cherish.
