Spring is finally on the way! After months of cold, drizzly, gray weather, now is the perfect time to consider sprucing up your surroundings with a fresh new look. Fortunately, it’s not necessary to spend a lot of money to refresh your décor with a like-new couch, chair, dining room set, accent piece, or maybe even a cute patio set for the warmer days ahead. Life’s Treasures Thrift Shop, 317 S. Court St., operated by HMC Hospice of Medina County, offers some of the best bargains anywhere and it’s only minutes away.

Life's Treasures provides a unique shopping experience based on sharing treasures from one family to another. Everything in the shop is generously donated by community members. An excursion with friends to shop for hidden treasures and bargains is not only a fun way to spend a few hours and inject a little fun and adventure into your day; it’s a great way to support the local community. Every purchase made at the shop benefits hospice patients and families living in Medina County.

Since its opening more than a decade ago, shoppers have delighted in finds that include new and gently used furniture, lamps, small appliances, books, seasonal items, home décor, high quality clothing, fashion accessories and much more.

New furniture arrives every Monday. The store holds a 50 percent off “Thrifty Thursday” sale the last Thursday of every month. Patio furniture is especially popular in the spring. The store also features a picture gallery, children's merchandise, a clothing boutique, lighting fixtures, medical equipment, kitchen merchandise and more.

“The store's success is a direct result of the vision and dedication of our wonderful managers, volunteers and the tremendous support we receive from the community,” said Amy Wermer, Director of Human Resources. Wermer added that a big part of the store’s appeal is the constantly changing inventory. “It’s always a treasure hunt. New items come in daily, so you never know what you’re going to find!” she said.

“Popularity has grown by word of mouth. We have a very loyal customer base,” added Store Manager Stephanie Furey. She credits volunteers, who do everything from unloading vehicles to sorting and pricing merchandise to greeting customers with much of store’s success.

Shopping hours at Life’s Treasures are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Closed Sundays).

Interested in donating furniture, clothing or other merchandise to Life’s Treasures? Donations are accepted Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information or to schedule a furniture pick-up, contact the shop at 330.723.2045.
