Cleveland, Ohio (Jan. 26, 2022) -- On Jan. 24, 2022, the Stein Hospice Board of Directors approved a letter of intent which will result in Hospice of the Western Reserve (HWR) completing an asset purchase of Stein Hospice after a period of due diligence. A full transition is expected to occur in April 2022.
Both HWR and Stein Hospice have collaborated in the hospice and palliative care field for decades. Stein Hospice, headquartered in Sandusky, is the premier provider of hospice and palliative care services for patients and their loved ones in Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Lorain, Sandusky, Seneca and surrounding counties. Hospice of the Western Reserve, headquartered in Cleveland, is the leading provider of hospice and palliative care services for patients and their loved ones in Northern Ohio. The deepened relationship will only further strengthen the commitment to high quality, not-for-profit, community-based hospice care.
“Our organizations have been instrumental to the communities that we served for over 40 years,” said Jan Bucholz, Stein Hospice CEO. “This opportunity assures that high quality not-for-profit hospice care will not only survive but thrive in our communities.”
“By coming together, we are confident that we can continue our shared mission of providing extraordinary care for patients and their loved ones,” said HWR President and CEO Bill Finn. “Our goal is to maintain high quality care in an increasingly competitive environment and to assure that patients and their loved ones in the Stein service area continue to have access to the best and most comprehensive end-of-life services.”
