MEDINA, OH – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – JULY 22, 2024 – Avid golfer Patrick Spoerndle will once again put his passion for golf to a philanthropic purpose by playing 100 holes of golf in a single day on Monday, July 29, 2024. The event, “100 for Hospice,” will take place at Fox Meadow Country Club in Medina, with all proceeds benefiting Hospice of Medina County, which is a part of Hospice of the Western Reserve.
Patrick Spoerndle, who founded “100 for Hospice” in 2009, has raised over $500,000 for hospice and palliative care services in Medina County over the past 15 years. This year’s challenge is particularly noteworthy as Spoerndle will be playing after a knee replacement surgery in January.
“Five weeks ago, I was asking myself, ‘How am I going to play 100 holes again?’” said Spoerndle.
With the help of family and friends who will serve as caddies, tee up golf balls, fill divots, fix ball marks, and rake sand bunkers, Spoerndle plans to play five full rounds plus 10 holes of speed golf.
The event embodies Spoerndle’s commitment to ensuring that 100% of the money raised goes directly to Hospice of Medina County. “Why not do a fundraiser where every penny goes to charity?” he said, reflecting on his experiences playing in charitable golf outings, where only a fraction of the money raised reaches the intended cause.
Spoerndle’s dedication to hospice care stems from his early career in social work and later as president of 7-D Marketing in Medina. His unique fundraising concept ensures that every dollar raised is tax-deductible and reinvested back into the Medina County community.
